Improved Network Live in Los Angeles

We’re pleased to announce our Improved Network is now Live in Los Angeles!

Our initial goal was to roll out the improved network much earlier this year say around mid-January, but due to issues our previous datacentre itself ran into, the immediate goals changed priority to first migrating over to a new datacentre and then getting the new network online.

While our datacentre migration in Los Angeles was completed back in end-January, sorting out legacy configurations, replacing bits and pieces of aging hardware / migrating users around to newer hardware took it’s own time, but finally once the new network was online, so far its clear it was worth the wait,

Various routes such as routes to ISPs in China were significantly improved, for example an ISP in China which had over 300ms latency with packet loss on the earlier network now nets closer to 200ms with minimal packet loss if any.

Similarly routes to ISPs in The Netherlands and the UK, see a decent improvement with lower latency too,

and many more such route optimizations along the way to various ISPs globally.

To routes where we don’t see improved (reduced) network latency, we see stability in the form of reduced packet loss and improvements in throughput (download/upload speeds) as well.

At the same time we keep in mind that networking is a 2-way-street, where both sides of the route are important, if a single side has an issue, connectivity to the other side is often impacted as well. If for any reason you see worse performance compared to earlier at our Los Angeles location, we request you to contact our support team via the client area with a MTR report so that we can find a solution with our upstream to improve routing where possible.
